1) Sad Excuse For A Credit Union:

I will never ever use this institution again. Very poor customer service. The reps are rude and cold. And some obviously don’t know their policies. Long story short I had a car loan with them. When I originally got the loan I was told that they did do refinancing if I chose to do so later. Well when I inquired about refinancing the rep told me that they don’t do that. I was a bit taken back because I know what I was told. Along with her lack of being informed she was very dry and cold short of being just rude to me. Needless to say I was able to refinance with another bank with no problem. It gave me great pleasure to walk in there and close my remaining account. When the rep asked why I was leaving I was more than happy to tell him. He looked a bit dumb founded when after I finished stating why. Then he wanted to know who told me that because it was incorrect. SMH! All I can say is steer clear of this credit union. This was just one incident I had with them in the two years I was there. There are way better credit unions!!!!!!!

2) Beware! Hard inquiry just for membership:

I applied on line and to my surprise, not only did they deny me membership on the basis that they could not verify my informantion. but i also got hit with a hard inquiry! WFT I am in the process of disputing. Aparently, they profile customers.

3) poor poor customer service

my experience with grow has been a nightmare from day one.deal with different ppl everytime everyone tells you something different.and recently they called and said oh the secured credit card you recieved 5 months ago was the wrong card.we are overnighting the new ones.1 week later no cards and they cancelled the ones i had.keep saying oh 2 more days..not even a customer service number to call …oh wait..they dont do customer service !

4) Absolutely Awful! Arrogant, Rude

Incompetent, Arrogant & Rude reps. Horrible or no customer support. People at this institution do not respect their customers and don’t deserve to be in business.

5) 2 Inquiries Lowered my Credit score

Leaving a bank to join Grow and I haven’t even recieved my card yet and I’m already thinking about finding another credit union bank. FIrst of all I wasn’t aware until it was too late that they needed to check my credit just to open up a checking and savings because of their “policy” and “to make sure I am not a terrorist etc”. I’ve never heard of that before for a Debit Card. Well the gentleman I spoke to said it will be one inquiry on my credit report. Since I was looking into getting a credit card, they could use the credit check report they pulled up for my Debit card. I check my credit report and it shows two inquiries for Grow Financial, when it should only be one! I haven’t even been with them for 2 weeks and I am already frustrated and thinking about switching. They need to get it together, with all these bad reviews, they will lose a lot of customers. Their even losing customers that were loyal to them for 10-20 or sooo years! Take care of your customers and they will take care of you. Maybe then this union would deserve a 5 star.

6) The Worst – Just Awful

Constant problems with this bank. Incompetent reps, website login problems, bad customer service, nobody checks spelling, problems with payments, reduculous onhold time, condicending, rude at times, poor experience in general. Spending 1 hr just to log in to account is the last straw.

7) After 20yrs, I’m dumping Grow!

The reason why? I’m being Nickled and Dimed to Death!

I have been a member for 20 years and when it switched from MacDill to grow Credit Union, it stopped from being ‘for the Community’, to just being for themselves!

They charge 2 dollars a month, just to get a statement. Take 10 dollars a month, if you do not have enough money in your checking or savings account.

And if you don’t want that fee, then you have to get a Credit card with them!

Now in what world does that/this make any sense?

Plus the fact that I am a Disabled Veteran, living on a pension, I do not have enough money to keep a large amount in any account, so getting a credit card to keep them from imposing a monthly fee on me, sickens me to my stomach.

I feel like I am being Black-mailed to keep my money in there!

Plus you’re being punished for not having a computer (my firend had to do this for me, since I do not have a computer)!

I hope that they (Grow) will not countinue this trend, for as of now, you have lost me as a customer.

I will take my small amount of money, elsewhere.

8) I hate this bank

I’ve been with this bank since 1998, and I give it 1 star because it has no 24/7 customer service.  I have over 100k in this bank so it is unnacceptable to me that they do not provide 24/7 customer service.  Also my online account with them gets “frozen” all the time, at least monthly and this has caused me tremendous aggravation when its a Friday and they are closed until Tuesday because of some kind of holiday on Monday.  I also have their grow visa card, and that has also caused me tremendous frustration, in particular when buying airline tickets in a foreign country.  My transaction was blocked one time, and since they do not have 24/7 customer service even for visa card services, I had to wait until Monday and the time lapse caused my airline tickets to increase around $400.  So basically their horrible lack of customer service cost me $400 one time, and aggravation about once per month.  Im currently looking at some online banking service to replace them.  Dont waste your time with this bank.

9) Auto loan

They give no notice that my insurance had the wrong lien holder for 6 years and then added 6 years to my policy which is over $1000 a year. Then wait a year from one payment being late they added all the intrest for the year and repo my car without tell me that i was even late. horriable!!!!

10) member

I was treated rudely by the receptionist at the S.R. 52 branch. Next time I went in she had her own office. That tells me all I need to know. Switching my money to my other bank.

11) Poor customer service

Just learned this morning that Grow Financial closed out my savings account (after assessing a fee for the full amount) because I no longer have a loan with them. They provided no notice that they were about to do so.  I was in the process of getting another car loan and a minimal savings account is required to be a “member.” They were very unapologetic and said I would have to pay to open a new account. Needless to say, I’m not getting a loan with them. They’d rather give up hundreds of dollars in interest, and a customer, over a secretly closed $5.37 account.

12) Yesterday I went into a branch to cash a personal check from a friend to me for $2,000.

I was a long wait, and when I got to the counter the person told me it would be a $ 5.oo fee for cashing it.  I said That’s ok.  I then requested all 100 bills, and she said “I’ll give you what I can”.  I said ” Thanks, I just didn’t want it all in a bunch of 20′s”

Anyway, I asked if I could pay the 5 fee in cash so I wouldn’t get small change back just for a 5 dollar fee….. she said ” No, because I would have to run it through the system”

I said “The system ?”  she didn’t say anything.

So she cashed the check and I got a bunch of small bills, I asked her to take some of the small change back and give me a $ 50.   She said “No, I can’t your a NON-MEMBER”    I said “Were at a bank?”  She said “I know, but your a NON-MEMBER”   I said “OK,  I’ll STAY A NON-MEMBER”

She said “Ok”

I can’t understand why you cant request larger bills, and the person dosen’t care anything more about the transaction other than, I was not a member.  But they will accept DEPOSITS of all kinds from anyone….lol   what a joke.

I will never use that institution again, nor reccomend it.

13) Just awful in every way possible…would rate no stars if I could.   Moving my accounts after 20+ years.     When this place was MacDill Federal Credit Union, they were a tremendous organization but now this place is worthless.   You get better rates on loans, credit cards and mortgages from the banks so what is the purpose for this so called credit union which is supposed to be for its members.

14) I would NOT recommend this bank to anyone. I had a loan for 3+ years they have no re-finance options and they don’t care about your current situation. Every manage says they can’t help you because of a “Company Policy”. Grow is only focused on their bottom line and not helping their customers achieve any kind of financial stability. Take your money somewhere else.
